The Denver, CO office is seeking an Project/Senior Structural Engineer to join our growing practice.  We are looking for a motivated candidate with attention to detail, a passion to continue to develop as a professional, and a desire to be part of a strong team. The Denver office of Schnabel focuses on the evaluation and design of dams, structures, and facilities as well as advancing our practice of risk informed decision making within our dam engineering group. Example projects include the inspection, evaluation and design (new dams and rehabilitation) of embankment and concrete dams, spillways, outlet works, and instrumentation, and performing risk assessments for dam owners for sites located across the United States.Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform/review analysis and design of steel, concrete structures, design drawings, reports, and technical specifications.
  • Perform and/or review stability analyses, reinforced concrete design, and steel design for water and earth retaining structures associated with dams, spillways, buildings, and other hydraulic structures
  • Maintain project communication with coworkers and clients
  • Responsible for project progress and task completion
  • Perform inspections of dams and hydraulic structures
  • Provide periodic construction observation and consultation
  • Perform task and project-level management and coordination duties
  • Mentor junior level structural engineering staff

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in structural engineering.
  • Bachelor's in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Licensed PE and the ability to obtain reciprocity.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided structural analysis, i.e. STAAD, SAP, ETAB, etc.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, and Bluebeam.
  • Analysis and design of steel and concrete structures.
  • Responsible for completion of calculations, drawings, reports, etc.
  • Proficiency with Excel and/or Mathcad as engineering calculation tools.
  • Competent with ASCE, AISC, and ACI codes.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with coworkers and clients.
  • Willingness to perform field work and travel as required by projects.
  • Strong work ethic and desire to perform professionally at a high level.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Knowledge/understanding of FERC, USACE, USBR, FEMA, etc. guidelines/regulations.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record and credit check.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment screening.

For candidates in Colorado the salary range is between $75,000 to $125,000.
