Job Description

  Are we the road to your future? Volkert is employee owned and a Top 100 design firm, committed to delivering the future of infrastructure in three key areas of service: Design + EngineeringPlanning + Environmental, and Program + Construction Management.  We are currently searching for a highly motivated mid-level Environmental Project Engineer to join our East Gulf Region in the Gulf Shores, AL area. Are we the road to your future? What you’ll be doing: 

  • Conduct field assessments of streams, wetlands, and waterways 
  • Prepare engineering design plans for stream restoration, green infrastructure, and civil site design
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and analysis
  • Assist and coordinate with senior engineers
  • Assist in preparing cost estimates, reports, and technical memos
  • Prepare memorandums and reports summarizing analysis work

 What you need to have: 

  • BS or MS in Civil, Biosystems/or Environmental Engineering
  • PE License 
  • Self-motivated to meet individual goals and maintain accountability in a team environment
  • Able to maintain project schedules, which may require occasional extended hours and overnight travel
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • General interpersonal skills including active listening, teamwork, responsibility, dependability, leadership, motivation, flexibility, and patience

 Preferred Qualifications: 

  • 5 - 10 years of engineering experience
  • Experience with AutoCad Civil 3D 
  • Experience with Hydraulic and Hydrologic modeling utilizing HEC-RAS, HMS, PondPack, StormCAD, etc.
  • Experience preparing stream restoration and civil site design plans
  • A combination of design and field experience
