Learn more by visiting www.geosyntec.com.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESWe operate under a sell-manage-do culture, and so we expect that you’d work on challenging technical projects while leveraging your existing knowledge and experience to help Geosyntec expand its current practices and capabilities through business development and client management. Some of the key responsibilities for the position include:

  • Performing and reviewing engineering calculations;
  • Dam and levee evaluations;
  • Earthquake engineering;
  • Conducting geotechnical field investigations;
  • Monitoring heavy civil construction projects;
  • Developing construction documents; and
  • Writing and reviewing engineering reports.

Based on your current level of experience, you may be asked to take on task-level or project management responsibilities, along with business development, and staff management and mentoring tasks.Here are some other things you should know about this position:

  • Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
  • Fieldwork: Up to 30%
  • Overnight travel: Up to 30%

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering (required)
  • Advanced degree in geotechnical engineering (preferred)
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.E.) (preferred).

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 5 years (7+ years preferred) of direct geotechnical consulting experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Sound understanding of soil mechanics. (essential)
  • Experience with multi-disciplinary project teams. (required)
  • Experience with geotechnical and engineering software such as AutoCAD, Slope/W, and PLAXIS. (preferred)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
