Learn more by visiting www.geosyntec.comESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESSome of the key responsibilities for the position include:

• Field and office work associated with site evaluation of hydrotechnical risks;
• Familiarity with classification of riverine systems and fluvial morphology (e.g. Rosgen);
• Development of construction drawing packages and contractor specifications for river stabilization and restoration;
• Evaluation of lateral migration potential and scour and erosion potential for riverine environments;
• Use of remote sensing data (i.e., LiDAR, aerial imagery,) to identify, characterize, and monitor hydrotechnical hazards to infrastructure;
• Mapping and management of hydrotechnical/geohazard data in ArcGIS databases;
• Develop 1D and 2D Hydraulic Flow Models and modeling and channel flow dynamics;
• Report writing and figure preparation;
• Development, installation, and management of instrumentation monitoring systems;
• Assisting in the development of proposals and other business development activities; and
• Supporting other diverse project opportunities including work in the fields of environmental, geotechnical, stormwater, and sediment transport.

• Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
• Fieldwork: Up to 30%
• Overnight travel: Varies based on assignments.

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or geological engineering. (required)
• Advanced degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering  geological engineering, or geology/geosciences with emphasis on water resource engineering or fluvial geomorphology. (preferred)
• Ability to obtain P.E. registration within one to two years of employment. (preferred)

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

• At least 7 years (8+ preferred) of related experience in engineering consulting; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
• Strong fundamentals in engineering, stream morphology, hydrology, and hydraulics theory and practice. (required)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills. (required)
• Knowledge of applied software (e.g., HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, TUFLOW, AutoCAD Civil3D, ArcGIS, etc.). and/or numerical methods using spreadsheets. (preferred)
• Ability to work independently and manage time and project responsibilities.
• Ability to work with technically and geographically diverse team.
• Ability and willingness to perform fieldwork and travel. (required)
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
