Job Description

Immediate need for two Reliability - Instrument Engineers - 
(Contract positions expected to end December 2024)
Preferred:  Minimum 2+ years exp. working in an industrial plant w/outages
Acceptable:  Engineering graduate will be trained to support Engineers working on the Reliability team. 

Position Purpose:  This Reliability Engineer’s primary objective is to support the overall reliability programs and processes for the assigned areas of the plant. This role will be focusing on instrument and analyzer assets in the plant.

  • They will have a specialized focus on the longer-term challenges of maintaining assets through proactive improvements and long-term strategies.
  • This role will also provide technical support and knowledge for more complex problem solving of issues related to the area of focus within the Reliability and Maintenance department.
  • The Reliability Engineer will develop and implement streamlined work processes for the reliability strategies
  • Collaborate with technicians and other groups at site
  • Monitor and measure asset performance by evaluating the data and trends
  • Measure the effectiveness of asset strategies
  • Continually improve strategies to ensure the safe and reliable operation of assets while meeting business requirements
  • They will support the development of reliability metrics to drive improved performance and business results.
  • This role functions within the operating area Cross Functional Team (CFT), providing guidance and advising the Capital Project teams, supporting turnaround execution as part of asset strategy execution.
  • The Reliability Engineer supports incident investigations and in finding the true root causes and analyzes data to develop improvement recommendations to eliminate failures and optimize asset availability.
  • They work with the Maintenance Program Planner to review and interpret equipment strategies and validate that the actions and recommendations are integrated into effective maintenance programs
  • Through the efforts outlined above, a Reliability Engineer is expected to reinforce work processes

Decision MakingThis position handles equipment strategies and reliability as it pertains to safe operating limits, safety instrumented systems, and critical instruments with respect to environmental requirements and equipment protection. Participates in discussions around complex instrumentation issues, emergency support issues, and bad actor mitigation efforts in the Cross Functional Teams. Key decisions include management of program work, investigations, setting up equipment strategies (including spare parts strategy) and outage/TA scope. Must be able to balance the ongoing day to day demands with the longer-term reliability initiatives and improvements.
