  Geosyntec is seeking a Senior Environmental Technician to join our team in Cincinnati, Ohio or Oak Brook, Illinois. The role will assist with sample collection of diverse materials including, but not limited to, soil, sediment, water, and air for environmental tests; compile construction quality assurance (CQA) monitoring data related to landfill and environmental remediation construction projects, provide neat, accurate, and comprehensive documentation of all field-related activities to senior level project personnel; and provide additional field and office support to geologists and engineers for a diverse private and public sector client base. The role requires the ability to comprehend construction plans and specifications and a willingness to perform extensive fieldwork and travel for extensive periods of time, including overnights, weekends, and holidays; and a strong willingness to work outdoors with interest in building a career in the environmental consulting field.Our clients ask us to address their new ventures and most challenging problems involving the environment, natural resources, and civil infrastructure. • Perform field and on-site measurements and collect samples from groundwater remediation and wastewater treatment systems;
• Operate and maintenance of various types of groundwater remediation and wastewater systems, including simple troubleshooting of mechanical issues with extraction pump systems;
• Monitor activities on job sites to assure compliance with relevant contract documents (e.g. technical specifications, construction drawings, sampling plans, CQA plans etc.);
• Prepare daily and weekly field reports, construction schedules & progress reports;
• Assure project documentation is correct and consistent with company policy & procedures;
• Interact with project personnel (contractors, project managers, engineers & clients) and assist in cultivating an integrated team approach through open lines of communications and participation in work progress meetings;
• Observe and abide by the policies and procedures outlined in the site-specific project health and safety plans and the company’s Environmental Health and Safety Management policies and procedures; and
• Perform tasks in other company practice areas including general construction services, environmental sampling, contractor oversight, or construction quality assurance activities, as needed.

• Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional and technical development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our staff to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
• Fieldwork: Up to 100%
• Overnight travel: Up to 100%

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of four (4) years of applicable experience; or an Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college and a minimum of two (2) years of applicable experience; or a Bachelor’s degree in science, construction management, engineering, physical science, environmental science, or related subjects; or equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, Technical experience in construction services, geotechnical, environmental, or related engineering disciplines. • Technical experience in construction services, remediation, environmental, or related environmental disciplines. (required)
• Experience with the operation of industry typical monitoring and data collection equipment, including but not limited laptop and handheld computers, pH meters, landfill gas meters, and other equipment. (required)
• Experience with multi-media sampling including soil, water, and air. (preferred)
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word software programs. (required)
• Strong mathematical background with the ability to perform calculations in basic geometry and use of algebra. (required)
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, be self-motivated and possess a strong work ethic. (required)
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 49 pounds unaided and 50-100 pounds with assistance and/or proper engineering controls. (required)
• Ability to speak and hear, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. (required)
• Valid U.S. driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and reliable transportation, for business travel. (required)
