  Job TitleENGINEERING TECHNICIANLocationIndianapolis, IndianaJob TypeFull-timeEducationAssociate DegreeDegree/ MajorConcrete Technology or Civil TechnologyYears Related Experience1-2Certification/ Registration RequiredNuclear Density, ACI, ICC, and INDOTJob DescriptionSME is looking for a full-time CMS Technician to join our team.  We have an immediate need in our Indianapolis, Indiana office.  The emphasis of this position will be to perform quality control evaluations on concrete, soils, asphalt, masonry and other construction materials at construction sites and in our labs.  This work will require close coordination with SME Team Members and project personnel and daily preparation of field observation reports.Description of Position ResponsibilitiesPerforming field testing for concrete, soils, asphalt, and other various construction materials. Completing and submitting accurate Daily Field reports. Performing routine tasks, tests and calculations associated with materials testing and field observations. Assisting engineering staff with field monitoring. Independently operating required equipment. Taking and transporting construction materials samples. Monitoring, interpreting and communicating test results to contractors, clients, architects and other project Team Members. Recognizing and effectively communicating construction problems to the proper party in a timely manner. Maintaining testing equipment, while in use, in such a state as to prevent failure, degradation, or erroneous test results.Technical Skills Required

  • The ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications.
  • A solid understanding of basic engineering concepts.
  • Basic computer skills and a solid knowledge of mathematics.
  • An excellent driving record.
  • Ability to work outside, at construction project sites, in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds repetitively.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work occasional overtime, weekends, and travel out of town, overnight to meet the needs of our clients.
