  Freeman Companies, an award-winning multi-discipline landscape architecture and engineering firm based in Hartford, CT, has an immediate opportunity for an intermediate Landscape Architect to join our growing landscape architecture studio. Freeman Companies is a growing, Black American owned small business, driven by our promise to clients and owners to Elevate Your Expectations. Job Description:  The successful candidate will work in conjunction with other multi-disciplinary design team members in applying creative design principles and technical standards to enhance projects that we produce. Our projects range from schools, commercial, corporate, transit oriented development, urban streetscapes, mixed use development, residential communities, municipal parks and playgrounds to athletic facilities. Applicants should be motivated, self-starters with strong design, graphic, written and communication skills. Applicant shall be proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Sketchup, Photoshop and other rendering programs. Familiarity with Revit and GIS is a plus.Responsibilities:

  • Apply diversified knowledge of planning and landscape architecture principles and practices
  • Production of design graphics, using CAD, for construction documents
  • Collaborate with internal and external clients on the site design packages for projects such as; mixed-use, residential, and commercial, etc.
  • Communicate with project team members, client representatives, review agencies and others
  • Coordinate the preparation of project drawings, exhibits, and calculations with other engineers, designers and technicians
  • Seek appropriate guidance in resolving various project related issues
  • Prepare project related correspondence as appropriate
  • Manage time effectively, organize, and work on multiple projects simultaneously in order to meet project deadlines and client needs
  • Visit project sites to review conditions

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited program with 3 - 5 years of experience.
  • Landscape Architecture license or ability to become licensed within a short time a plus but not required.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, as well as skills in hand graphics and renderings.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to work in a team setting.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple deadlines while maintaining a high degree of accuracy in all work.
