Job Description

  Geosyntec is growing in the New England area, and we are looking for an Environmental or Civil Engineer for our Water and Natural Resources and Sediment Practice in the Acton, Massachusetts or Bedford, New Hampshire office, who loves digging into the details of stormwater and integrated water resources management, regulatory compliance, and lake, river, and marine sediment assessment and remediation. Our ideal candidate would have at least 5 years of experience on these types of projects.   • Supporting projects involving municipal separate storm sewer system (MS4) compliance, watershed planning, stormwater best management practice design, sediment assessment and remediation, and environmental permitting;
  • Performing hydrologic and hydraulic calculations;
  • Designing stormwater best management practices;
  • Preparing technical reports;
  • Preparing local, state, and federal permit submittals pertaining to surface water and land use regulations;
  • Preparing proposals for new assignments;
  • Managing tasks including tracking budgets and coordinating with dynamic teams; and
  • Providing litigation support services, including related to Clean Water Act compliance.

  • Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
  • Fieldwork: Up to 50%
  • Overnight travel: Up to 30%

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental, civil, or chemical engineering. (required) 
  • Advanced degree in civil or environmental engineering. (preferred) 
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.E.) (preferred)

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 5 years of experience in a civil or environmental consulting environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required) 
  • An outstanding track record for client management and technical leadership. (preferred)
  • Project experience involving environmental regulatory compliance, historical research, and environmental assessment. (preferred)
  • Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling (HydroCAD, SWMM, HEC-RAS) (preferred)
  • Experience working on demanding, sophisticated, and legally sensitive projects. (preferred)
  • Experience designing stormwater best management practices (preferred)
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
