  Geosyntec is growing in the Pacific Northwest and we are looking for a Mid-Level Environmental Engineer for our Environmental Site Investigation and Remediation Practice in the Seattle, Washington, or Portland, Oregon office. This position is well-suited for a talented, experienced individual who is interested in becoming a leader and contributing to innovative and challenging projects, including soil and groundwater investigations and remediation, vapor intrusion assessments and mitigation, environmental due diligence, and the financial and technical evaluations necessary to implement these projects. Our ideal candidate would have at least 5 years of experience on these types of projects. We expect that you’d work on a variety of challenging technical projects and leverage your existing relationships to help Geosyntec expand its current practices and capabilities.Collaboration and mentoring are cornerstones of Geosyntec’s culture. Some of the task-level or project management responsibilities you will be asked to do include:

  • Task and project management, including planning and implementing investigation and remediation projects, budgeting and budget management, adherence to schedule, quality, client satisfaction, and profitability;
  • Developing and implementing site assessment and remediation work plans, sampling and analysis plans, quality assurance project plans, and health and safety plans;
  • Soil and groundwater remedy evaluation, cost estimation, design calculations, and implementation;
  • Vapor intrusion evaluations and mitigation system assessments;
  • Data analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures;
  • Preparation of technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals;
  • Preparing for and participating in meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and other parties;
  • Environmental due diligence, regulatory compliance services, and permitting;
  • Fieldwork such as soil, groundwater, and vapor (soil, sub-slab, and indoor air) sampling, drilling and contractor oversight, and remediation system O&M.

  • Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, CPR training, and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
  • Fieldwork: Up to 50%
  • Overnight travel: Up to 20%

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental, civil, or chemical engineering. (required) 
  • Advanced degree in environmental engineering. (preferred) 
  • Professional registration (i.e., E.I.T., P.E) (preferred)

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 5 years of experience in an environmental consulting environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required) 
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
  • An outstanding track record for client management and technical leadership. (preferred)
  • Project experience involving site investigation, vapor intrusion assessments and mitigation, and remedial design, planning, and implementation. (preferred)
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to environmental investigations and clean-up. (preferred)
  • Demonstrated success in the development and management of clients. (preferred)
  • Project experience involving environmental regulatory compliance, historical research, and environmental assessment.  (preferred)
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
