Job Description

  Geosyntec is hiring Environmental Technicians to join our team in Lyndhurst or Pennington, New Jersey or Blue Bell, Pennsylvania. You will perform a variety of multi-media sampling efforts; oversee environmental and remediation construction projects; and provide additional field and office support to geologists and engineers for a diverse private and public-sector client base. You will work on your own or as a part of a larger field support team on site-specific project tasks. The ability and willingness to work outdoors, perform extensive fieldwork, and travel (which may include overnights, weekends, and holidays) is required.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform multi-media (groundwater, soil, sediment, surface water, and air) sampling in support of investigations, monitoring programs, and other data collection centric projects;
  • Prepare daily and weekly field reports, construction schedules and progress reports;
  • Ensure project documentation is correct and consistent with company policies and procedures;
  • Interact with project personnel (contractors, project managers, engineers & clients) and assist in cultivating an integrated team approach through open lines of communications and participation;
  • Assist in the preparation of the final data packages, health and safety documents, and the assembly of report appendices;
  • Observe and abide by the policies and procedures outlined in the site-specific project health and safety plans and the company’s Environmental Health and Safety Management policies and procedures; and
  • Perform tasks in other company practice areas including general construction services, environmental sampling, contractor oversight, or construction quality assurance activities, as needed.

  • Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional and technical development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our staff to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants. 
  • Fieldwork: Up to 100%
  • Overnight travel: Up to 30%

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED). (required)
  • Associate degree. (preferred) 

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with multi-media sampling including soil, water, and air. (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word software programs. (required)
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, compute rate, ratio, percent, and draw and interpret bar graphs. (required)
  • Ability to take accurate field notes and record field measurements in a field notebook or on Daily Field Reports. (required)
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, and strong work ethic. (required)
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 49 pounds unaided and 50-100 pounds with assistance and/or proper engineering controls. (required)
  • Ability to speak and hear, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and reliable transportation, for business travel. (required)
