Geosyntec is the place for you!  We are seeking an exceptional Senior Construction Manager to plan and coordinate construction management and oversight activities for a wide variety of construction projects including waste disposal facilities, dams, levees, reservoirs, storm water management structures, groundwater and soil remediation systems, and industrial facility demolition.  The Senior Construction Manager will coordinate construction activities with the owners, engineers, architects, and site personnel to ensure the work is performed in accordance with project documents and specifications and schedule and budget requirements.Our clients ask us to address their new ventures and most challenging problems involving the civil infrastructure, natural resources, and the environment. We operate under a sell-manage-do culture, and so we expect that you’d work on challenging technical projects while leveraging your existing knowledge and experience to help Geosyntec expand its current practices and capabilities through business development and client management. You may also be asked to take on project management responsibilities, along with staff management, development, and mentoring tasks. Some of the key responsibilities for the position include:

  • Identify and participate in new business development opportunities, proposal preparations, and negotiating scopes of work.
  • Implement, interpret, and apply technical specifications, construction drawings, and work plans.
  • Effectively communicate proposed design modifications to the Engineer-of-Record in a timely and professional manner.
  • Develop and manage project controls related to engineering, procurement, and construction for Construction Management at Risk (CMAR).
  • Review, recommend and approve contractor change orders delegated under client authority.
  • Prepare detailed responses to contractor requests for information and clarification to the contract documents in a timely manner.
  • Review and approve contractors’ construction quality control (CQC) procedures including material submittals and manufacturers’ quality control (MQC) documents for completeness and compliance. Maintain complete and accurate files for each submittal.
  • Maintain time and production records, analyze construction schedules and critical path management (CPM), and monitor construction progress with respect to scheduling and CPM tasks.
  • Review, track, and approve contractor and subcontractor pay requests, invoices, and payments on a timely basis.
  • Prepare or review final reports, work plans, health and safety documents, and the assembly of report appendices.
  • Prepare progress reports, meeting agendas and meeting minutes in an orderly and timely manner.
  • Review and edit field document corrective action strategies to address substandard or non-compliant workmanship or materials.
  • Develop and prepare sampling, testing schedules, and detailed test data summaries.
  • Review field documentation and laboratory tests of construction materials and verify their accuracy and compliance with the project specifications.
  • Establish, organize, and maintain project records.
  • Identify project staffing requirements and prepare and maintain on-site personnel schedules to meet project deadlines.
  • Interact with project personnel including contractors, project managers, engineers, and clients to cultivate an integrated team approach through open lines of communication and participation in work progress meetings.
  • Implement and abide by the policies and procedures outlined in the site-specific project health and safety plan (HASP) and the company’s Health and Safety policies and procedures.

  • Training: This position requires OSHA/MSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm.  We also offer professional development opportunities including technical conferences, in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants. 
  • Fieldwork: Up to 50%
  • Overnight travel: Up to 50%

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction science, construction management, engineering, physical science, environmental science, or related subjects. (required)

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 8 years of progressive experience in construction management, or equivalent combination of advanced education and experience. [required]
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. [required]
  • Good computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, data visualization, presentations, email communication, video conferencing, etc. [required]
  • Knowledge of CAD/VDC/BIM software. [preferred]
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. [required]
