Located across from the Long Beach Performing Arts Center at 211 E. Ocean Blvd., numerous restaurants, shopping, and other attractions are within a few minutes walking distance of the office. In addition to on-site parking, the office is accessible through many alternative transportation options with regional bus and train service located less than a quarter-mile of the office and secure bicycle parking provided on-site within Geosyntec’s office suite. At Geosyntec, you will work with industry-recognized leaders while applying your experience to develop innovative solutions for our existing and future environmental projects. Your responsibilities in the Long Beach office will include, but are not limited to those listed below:ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Managing project staff, scope, schedule, and budget;
- Building trust-based relationships with clients and regulatory agencies;
- Designing and implementing field investigations and/or remediation programs;
- Synthesizing data and preparing reports;
- Reviewing and certifying documents prepared by others for technical accuracy;
- Mentoring and developing skills of early-career employees;
- Contributing to Geosyntec’s culture of collaboration and inclusion; and
- Leading proposal and other business development activities.
You will work closely with senior professionals who will guide and integrate you into Geosyntec’s culture as you continue your consulting career. Our professionals are expected to continue to develop their skills and actively identify new opportunities for expanding Geosyntec’s portfolio of clients. Advancement at Geosyntec is based on an individual’s own performance and initiative.This position also requires:
- Training: OSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including technical conferences, in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
- Fieldwork: Up to 50%
- Overnight travel: Up to 50%
EDUCATION AND LICENSURE
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or geology (or other related geoscience). (required)
- Advanced degree in engineering, geology, or computational science (M.S. or Ph.D.). (preferred)
- Active professional licensure in California (professional engineer (P.E.) or professional geologist (P.G.). (highly preferred)
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 7 years of direct environmental consulting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
- Demonstrated experience with successful project delivery, including scope, schedule, and budget management. (required)
- Experience developing and implementing health and safety programs. (required)
- Knowledge of Federal and California environmental regulations. (required)
- Experience leading successful proposal or other business development activities. (preferred)
- Experience overseeing multiweek field investigation programs or large-scale remedial system construction. (preferred)
- Experience with staff supervision, mentoring, and training. (preferred)
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
