Duffield Associates is looking for a CAD Manager/Senior Designer with 7 or more years of experience.

Job Summary

The CAD Manager/Senior Designer will support the activities of CAD (Computer Aided Design) specialists company-wide who design plans and technical drawings. He or she will be responsible for managing and developing procedures geared toward the efficiency of project development utilizing CAD and for increasing the efficiency of all staff using AutoDesk CAD products (primarily Civil 3D). As a Senior Designer, he or she will also be part of the Company’s production team responsible for designing plans and technical drawings in support of projects throughout the company.

 Duties

The CAD Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing company-wide CAD standards; organizing and providing production support; training in-house staff; helping to ensure workers’ tasks are in accordance with company policy, standards and procedures; as well as maintaining document archives; managing CAD licenses and other related CAD software maintenance activities. The CAD Manager will also oversee technical configuration and provide support related to program customizations, plotting, and electronic file submissions as well as provide support related to CAD licenses to our in-house IT manager. The CAD Manager may also be requested to provide input in business planning such as technology adoption, process modification, and system upgrades. As a Senior Designer, the CAD Manager will also be billable to projects and have a billable hours target.

 Knowledge and Skills Requirements The CAD Manager must possess expertise in AutoCAD drawings, technical design documentation, and engineering specifications and procedures, as well as general practical knowledge in business management. The CAD Manager must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, an aptitude for reading and writing technical documents, proficiency in computer hardware and programs related to engineering, design, documentation and presentation. He or she must also be analytical, organized, and detail-oriented.

Working Conditions

Will be required to travel from time to time in order to meet clients, CAD technicians and designers in all Duffield offices or attend external training.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited institution or equivalent experience, preferred but not required.

7 or more years of experience in land development civil-site engineering.

Extensive knowledge and experience managing and utilizing AutoDesk CAD products (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, REVIT, etc.) required.

Familiarity with ArcGIS software a plus.

Willingness for continuing education in latest versions and capabilities of AutoDesk CAD Products.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Candidate must be a critical thinker, be willing to learn through trial and error, be self-motivated and willing to put the full effort towards the task at hand.
