Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is the independent regulator for work-related health and safety. We act in the public interest to reduce work-related illness, death and serious injury across Great Britain’s workplaces. Our regulatory responsibilities cover a range of industries across Great Britain from the smallest microbusinesses right up to major global companies who manage high hazard facilities.
HSE is an executive non-departmental public body, part of the civil service, and sponsored by the Department for Work and Pensions. More details can be found on our website: http://www.hse.gov.uk/
We employ around 2,700 people at 27 locations across Great Britain and face a unique public sector challenge by the variety of people we need to employ. The benefits that our work brings to business, workers and the UK economy are clear. Improved health and safety risk management protects workers and translates into reduced sickness absence, lower healthcare and welfare costs, and better productivity.
