OUR TRANSPORT PLANNING BUSINESS

 

Jacobs is heavily involved in helping to transform the world’s transport system to deliver a less congested, high quality and reliable services for travellers, and businesses. During the past 20 years the company’s transport planning team has developed an impressive array of skills and a considerable track record of achievement. Our extensive portfolio of projects involves working with various major clients in the transport industry, throughout the UK and Ireland. 

 

The successful candidates will strengthen our expanding team in the recently developed – state of the art office facilities in central Birmingham. 

 

THE ROLE:

 

We have a range of opportunities for Senior Transport Planners in our Birmingham office, where we have an integrated highways engineering, Rail, Water, Gas, Architecture, Geotechnical, transport planning and environmental team of over 300 people. 

 

Qualifications

Our transport and traffic teams deliver a wide range of projects in public transport and highways, including planning in railways, toll roads, buses, cycling, taxis etc. You will be part of a team undertaking transport and traffic modelling using and range of platforms (eg: VISUM, SATURN, MOIRA, Emme, CUBE, VISSIM, etc) with training and support offered by Principal Consultants and Technical Directors with a wealth of experience.

 

Senior Transport Planners and Modellers. We immediately require senior transport modeller and general transport planners to expand our team. Candidates to have either an accredited degree in either transport planning, civil engineering or other relevant discipline (2(i) or above preferred). 

Relevant work experience in transport modelling and transport planning is essential.  We will also expect:

  • Interest in, and understanding of, transport planning issues.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills 
  • Strong computer software skills (with practical experience of transport modelling packages)
  • Team working capabilities 
  • Excellent written and oral communication 
  • Consistent attention to detail 
  • Focus on results and project delivery

We would be especially interested in candidates with previous work experience in the transport industry and experience in developing and applying strategic or micro-simulation transport modelling and Project Management skills.
