Our Ground Engineering and Tunnelling team provides technical support to a wide range of infrastructure projects throughout the UK, and worldwide.
As a result we're looking for people who have the passion and drive to be involved with major geotechnical projects across a range of sectors: Rail, Highways, Utilities and Nuclear.
As an Engineering Geologist, you will work as part of a team of geotechnical engineers and engineering geologists, providing support and advice to the wider Jacobs business and clients as well as acting as team leader on your own projects. You will lead or assist in the delivery of geotechnical input to projects and will also be required to provide technical guidance and support to less experienced junior engineers and technicians.
There will be opportunities for a wider degree of responsibilities and roles within the Ground Engineering team aimed at developing your career as a geotechnical specialist. Jacobs is an international company and there may also be opportunities for overseas work in the Middle East and elsewhere in the future.
The successful applicant will become part of a respected and ambitious company with excellent career prospects and international opportunities.
Experience in the design and supervision of ground investigations, interpretative reporting and geotechnical design of category 1 and 2 structures is required, plus the ability to work both autonomously and as part of large project teams. Some knowledge of South West regional geology and experience in the use of specialist geotechnical software is also desirable.
Successful candidates will be asked to complete a Baseline Personnel Security Standard Pre-Employment check and will be required to undergo various checks including: Identity, Right to Work; Employment/Education History and Criminal Record. If you are unable to meet this and any associated criteria, then your employment may be delayed or rejected.
