Staff Engineer – Geotechnical Engineering
Location: Denver, Colorado
Work Schedule: Hybrid - Minimum 3 days per week in office
Relocation: Not reimbursed
Position Overview
Best Engineering is seeking a Staff Engineer with a background in geotechnical engineering to support residential and commercial projects across Colorado. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in soil evaluation, foundation design, and geotechnical analysis, along with a strong understanding of local soil conditions. This role is well-suited for an engineer looking to deepen their technical expertise and advance toward professional licensure while working on diverse and challenging projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and performing geotechnical field investigations and soil classifications.
- Analyze laboratory testing data and prepare detailed engineering reports.
- Support design efforts for foundations, retaining structures, and shoring systems.
- Perform geotechnical analyses, including settlement, bearing capacity, and lateral earth pressure calculations.
- Prepare technical drawings and figures using AutoCAD.
- Collaborate closely with senior engineers and project managers to deliver high-quality work on schedule.
- Contribute to quality assurance and ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.
Qualifications
- B.S. in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering required.
- 2–6 years of related geotechnical engineering experience preferred.
- EIT (Engineer-in-Training) certification required; PE license or progress toward PE is a plus.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with foundation design, settlement analysis, and soil-structure interaction.
- Knowledge of Colorado soil and geologic conditions highly preferred.
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
- Self-motivated and detail-oriented with strong teamwork and problem-solving abilities.

Compensation/Benefits
