- Work with project teams on civil, geotechnical, geological, or mining engineering projects that involve CAD design, construction oversight, field work, data evaluation, engineering analysis and report preparation
- Assist in planning and performing geotechnical investigations and analyses
- Assist in preparation of reports, plans, and specifications
- Observe and log soil borings and/or rock core
- Conduct field assignments, such as site mapping
- Observe construction and perform materials testing, when needed. Material testing could include concrete testing, soil compaction, etc.
- Assist in performing field inspections
- Assist in performing analyses and design calculations
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geological, or Mining Engineering or equivalency
- Detailed oriented with strong analytical skill and a positive attitude as well as the ability to work both independently and on teams
- A willingness to perform a variety of assignments on short notice is valuable
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Time management and organizational skills
- Ability to excel in a hybrid work environment
- It is also beneficial to be comfortable in remote settings, with a can-do attitude, and a willingness to perform a variety of tasks as needed to complete an assignment and satisfy project demands
- Desire and willingness to work outdoors and travel within Michigan and nationwide (travel expected to be required up to 60%)
- Engineer in Training with the ability to receive a Professional Engineering License within 4 years
- Relevant internship experience
- 1-2 years of relevant industry experience
- Geotechnical exploration experience including drilling supervision, soil logging and classification
- Strong computer skills and experience with industry standard commercial computer software including: Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and/or various engineering software
- Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record and credit check
- Ability to pass a pre-employment screening
