What you would engage in: Our focus is on the application of critical thinking to the management of mine waste and water. By continuing your career journey with us, you would be part of our Mining Environmental Group, based out our Vancouver office. The role of Senior Water Resources Engineer will provide you with the opportunity to:
- Engage with clients, colleagues, and suppliers on environmentally focused field programs and design solutions
- Conduct hydrological and hydraulic analysis including flood mapping, water balance analysis, and hydraulic modelling
- Incorporate climate change resiliency in hydrological and hydraulic analysis
- Support mine water management design and optimization
- Build client rapport as projects progress from feasibility through to mine closure
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to integrate water management systems into overall design and operation
- Prepare technical reports, proposals, and other documentation related to water resources engineering
What we are looking for: We are looking for a Senior Water Resources Engineer to join our Vancouver-based engineering team to work on local and international mining and resource projects. Your experience will be applied to the planning, investigation, assessment, design, and construction of tailings and water dams and waste storage for mining. Career development can be managed to support personal preferences such as niche, technical design specialists, or project participation in both technical dam engineering scopes and project management, or all-round engineering specialists. What we require: We respect the knowledge and experience you have gained to date and are willing to support you as you build on it. We do however require:
- A degree in civil engineering: a master’s degree is considered an asset
- 8+ years’ civil design experience related to surface water controls (preferably for mining or related industries), with a track record of continued development
- You must be eligible to register as professional engineer in Canada
- Experience in hydrotechnical designs analyses (e.g., water balance, open channel flow, erosion protection)
- An ability to build relationships with multidisciplinary project-based teams
- Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, high degree of organization, and work independently with minimal supervision in a deadline-driven environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication along with organization and analytical skills.
- Experience in a safety focused environment with near miss and incident reporting requirements

The salary for this position is $90,000 to $130,000 per year. Salary is based on applicable experience, education, and skill level. Along with continued career development, KCB offers:
