This position is open to anyone who meets the minimum and selective qualifications listed below. All eligible candidates must meet the minimum and selective qualifications by the closing date. Nature of Work: This position provided management and supervision for a team of traffic engineers, consultants, and technicians to investigate, implement, review, or coordinate all traffic control enhancements along state highways in District 2 (Caroline, Cecil, Kent, Queen Anne’s, Talbot Counties). This includes major construction projects, utility work, maintenance projects, planning, and design projects. It involves coordination with all offices within the district and various SHA offices across the state, including Office of Preliminary Planning and Engineering, Office of Highway Development, Office of Structures, Office of Maintenance, Office of Environmental Design, Office of Traffic and Safety, other district offices, CHART, and administrative offices. The position works directly for the Assistant District Engineer – Traffic (ADE-T) and serves as a Division Chief in the ADE-T’s absence. MDOT offers a generous and competitive benefits package. Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Seven (7) years of experience in professional engineering.
Selective Qualification: Three (3) years of the required experience must have been in traffic engineering.
*This statement contains a selective qualification, which is more focused in scope than the minimum qualifications for this classification. Selective qualifications are utilized when the position requires specific or additional bona fide occupational qualifications (i.e., knowledge, skill or ability).
Notes:
1. Additional work experience in professional engineering, or in technical engineering at the journey level or above, may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education.
2. Possession of a master's degree in engineering may be substituted for one year of the non- supervisory experience.
3. Persons currently registered as Professional Engineers in the state of Maryland, or in a state with comparable requirements, are considered to have met the education requirements.
Licenses & Certifications
Candidate must possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in state of Maryland.
