We approach problems with creativity and innovation.  The Austin, Texas office is seeking an engineer with a background in hydrology, hydraulics, or water resources engineering; geotechnical engineering; or structural engineering for a staff level position to support our growing dam engineering business.  We are looking for a motivated candidate with attention to detail, a passion to continue to develop as a professional, and a desire to be part of a strong team.  Job Responsibilities:

  • Apply professional principles, complex numerical models, and innovative solutions to real-world problems as part of a team of engineers and scientists while under the supervision of senior engineering personnel.
  • Assist in the preparation of CAD drawings for contract documents and reports with input and guidance from senior engineers in accordance with internal drafting procedures and guidelines
  • Perform hydraulic, geotechnical and/or structural analysis and design calculations for dams and hydraulic structures including spillways, dam outlet works, diversion and check structures, measurement flumes, and other various raw water infrastructure.
  • Ability to travel and work in the field is required, including assignments that may last several months away from the office.
  • Observe and log test borings
  • Observe construction and perform materials testing

Required Skills/Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Civil Engineering (or related) from an ABET accredited program with an emphasis in Hydraulics, Hydrology, or Water Resources Engineering; or Geotechnical Engineering; or Structural Engineering, and 0-2 years of related professional experience. Prior internship or professional work in related field is a plus. 
  • Successful completion of the EIT.
  • Familiarity with HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SITES, GeoStudio, MathCAD, AutoCAD, Revit and GIS software is a plus, but not required. These programs are used extensively, so a willingness to learn them is a must.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Positive attitude and self-motivation to grow professionally.
  • Ability to lift 60 pounds and be physically able to negotiate construction sites, enter trenches, climb ladders and work outside.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record, and credit check
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident status is required.

The compensation range for a Staff Engineer is between $57,200 to $86,000. Compensation for this position may vary based on geographic location and other factors.
