GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (GZA) is currently seeking a Senior Geotechnical Project Manager to join our growing Geotechnical and Rock Slope Engineering team in our South Portland, Maine office. This is a great position for someone local in Maine or an individual who is looking to relocate. The South Portland, Maine office is located less than 2 hours from beautiful beaches, sizable mountains, and many lakes and streams. It is the perfect place to work on geotechnical and rock slope engineering projects. Key Responsibilities: 

  • Internal and direct client communications
  • Managing project team, delegating to office and field staff and executing day to day activities of projects
  • Monitoring team performance for compliance with contractual agreements
  • Providing business development support
  • Preparing proposals with Principal guidance and review
  • Staff training and staff review
  • Mentoring of junior staff
  • Managing project contractual and financial issues (including terms of agreement, changes in scope, billing process)
  • May be called upon to perform technically complex field assignments
  • Out of town assignments are anticipated. Candidate must have consistent means of transportation to/from project sites and client meetings across northern New England.


Qualifications: 

  • BS in Civil and MS degree in Civil with a Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology concentration required
  • 10 - 15 years relevant experience since college graduation
  • Strong computer skills using MS Office and geotechnical and rock engineering software
  • Coursework or other knowledge of deep and shallow foundation design, rock slope engineering and tunneling, earth retaining structures design, slope stability analysis, GIS
  • Excellent communication, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Experience with financial project management
  • Demonstrated delegation, leadership, and team building skills
  • Experience in execution and management of multiple office and field tasks and activities
  • Professional Engineer license is required with the ability to obtain PE in ME within 6 months of hire.
