Would you like to grow your engineering knowledge exponentially through direct practical experience? Would you like the opportunity to solve design challenges for a marine or coastal environment? If so, we are seeking a motivated engineering intern or co-op to work with our team of engineers and scientists on complex and exciting projects at various locations throughout the Northeast. Essential Responsibilities & Duties
- Candidates will work on a variety of waterfront and coastal engineering projects throughout the region.
- You will learn new technical skills and perform engineering analyses and design.
- You will assist with field surveys and inspections of existing structures.
- You will be expected to perform computations, prepare spreadsheets, and prepare and edit drawings using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
- You will assist in construction field inspections for activities such as pile driving, bulkhead wall construction, and concrete placement.
- You will shadow a young engineer to learn about the day-to-day of a recent graduate.
- You may assist with permitting and project management tasks as needed to support ongoing projects.
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in third or fourth year of a Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or equivalent B.S. degree program at an ABET-accredited institution. M.S. candidates also considered.
- Candidate must be detail-oriented and self-motivated in work approach and execution.
- Must have excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Experience with Autodesk software (AutoCAD, Civil3D, Revit), or the desire to learn via self-study, required.
- Possess a valid US driver’s license.
- This position has a field component; day trips and some overnight travel may be required. Candidates should be prepared to work in inclement conditions.
Preferred Skills
- Structural steel and concrete design courses.
- Coastal modeling and analysis courses.
- Public speaking experience.
- Diving certification, if candidate has an interest in waterfront inspections.
