Join Jacobs as the Senior Structural Engineer We don’t settle until we give our best and know that we’re making a difference. We are looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our team supporting water/wastewater/water resource clients. The position will be based in Knoxville, TN. The candidate will work on and manage a variety of water, wastewater, and water resources projects and assist with serving our municipal, federal, industrial, and other clients. This position will require you to work independently and as part of larger multi-discipline teams to develop design concepts, prepare preliminary and detailed designs, support services during construction, and conduct on-site inspections and observations. The successful candidate will need to be comfortable working both independently on a wide variety of tasks and with peers in the Knoxville, TN office and throughout the company. Duties and Responsibilities: - Provide consulting, design, and construction services for various municipal, federal, industrial, and other clients over a wide variety of fields including water, wastewater, and water resources. - Prepare detailed structural design drawings, calculations, and construction specifications. - Coordinate structural project work with architectural, civil, process, mechanical, and electrical engineering staff. - Conduct condition assessments for existing buildings and structures and develop inspection summary reports. - Provide technical guidance and mentor less experienced and remote design and engineering personnel. - Participate in planning, cost development, scheduling for assigned projects, discipline management, and project management (if interested) - Utilize structural analysis software for structural designs while applying a comprehensive understanding of structural engineering, principles, theories, concepts, and industry practices and standards and their application. - Work under minimal supervision in collaboration with senior subject matter experts in offices throughout the United States.Here's what you'll need- B.S. in Civil or Structural Engineering or related engineering discipline - 10+ years of experience as a structural engineer primarily in the water/wastewater/water resources field - Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Tennessee - Experience with U.S. building codes including IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 350, and AISC - Knowledge of principles and practices of wind and seismic design, including ability to apply required provisions of the building code. - Experience working in a multi-discipline project team. - Strong written and oral communication skills Ideally, You’ll Also Have: - Master's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering - 15+ years of experience as a structural engineer primarily in the water/wastewater/water resources design field - Structural Engineer (SE) having passed the 16-hour SE exam by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) - Experience with STAAD Pro, TEDDS, RAM, Autodesk Revit, MicroStation, Mathcad, Bluebeam, and/or BIMskillset This position will require the candidate to be in the Knoxville, TN office two days a week. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
