Job Description

Structural Engineer
Brampton, Markham, Hamilton and Barrie ON  What a day at EXP has in store for you
 ⦁    Conduct structural design of steel and concrete structures for new and retrofit projects
⦁    Responsible for design of structural systems, working out Schematic and Design Development options.
⦁    Communicate effectively internally and externally.
⦁    Ensures colleagues have correctly interpreted that which was communicated.
⦁    Communicate across offices, work with team on large projects in multiple offices.
⦁    Responsible for sealing and signing of drawings.
⦁    Handle small to medium size projects of varying complexity.
⦁    Reviews status of checklists and standard letters as the project progresses.
⦁    Consult with and oversee work of junior engineers and technical staff.
⦁    Prepare questionnaire and coordination of Specification documents. 
⦁    Understand the project delivery types and their implications on the design process.
⦁    Understand the design time requirements corresponding to the various delivery types.
⦁    Manages the design process and provide deliverables within his/her control on time and within budget.
⦁    Understand a variety of finite element software packages and the basic principles behind their usage.
⦁    Brings to the attention of the management any potential work he/she is made aware of by the client.

 
What your experience looks like

⦁    Minimum of five (5) years of structural/civil experience in heavy industrial, preferably oil/ gas and chemical facilities
⦁    Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering from a Canadian accredited university required
⦁    Professional Engineer (P.Eng) license in Ontario
⦁    Detailed software and overall code knowledge required.
⦁    Experience with one or more of the following programs (ROBOT, STAAD, ANSYS)
⦁    Proficient at AutoCAD, is required
⦁    Proficiency in Bluebeam, is highly preferred
⦁    Proficiency in MS Word, Excel required
⦁    Positive team player
⦁    Self-motivated, detail oriented and client focused
⦁    Ability to prioritize tasks, met deadlines and work collaboratively on multiple projects at once
