Find out how a career at Michels Construction, Inc. can change yours. As a Design Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to work with our highly skilled senior engineering staff and CAD technicians to develop design submittals for geo-structures to be built by Michels Construction. Design submittals will consist of drawings and supporting calculations developed by applying geotechnical and structural engineering principals using state-of-the art methods and software. Types of structures include, but are not limited to earth retention systems, deep foundations for buildings and bridges, and temporary structures to facilitate construction. Occasionally you will be asked to assist our estimating department with engineering associated with design/build bids. Project site visits may be periodically required but are not routine. WHAT IT TAKES:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in structural engineering or geotechnical engineering. 0-4 years of related experience or equivalent combination (required)
  • Master’s degree in civil engineering, with an emphasis in structural engineering or geotechnical engineering (preferred)
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD 2D (preferred)
  • Have FE license or in the process of receiving
