If you are looking for an opportunity to work in a growth-oriented professional consulting office to enhance your potential to gain new knowledge, skills, and relationships in a collaborative, innovative and supportive environment, this position is for you.This position will be based in our Alexandria, VA office and will include frequent travel between office locations in Columbia, MD and Alexandria, VA and to field project sites throughout the DC Metro region.Detailed Description: In this role, you will work as a project manager and other team leads locally and nationally to execute work involving conventional types of civil engineering principals and other related activities for conveyance infrastructure projects. You will lead and support for a variety of projects that may include planning, evaluation, design, and construction related activities for wastewater, water, and stormwater conveyance systems. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Serve as the Project Manager for a variety of conveyance infrastructure projects, including providing civil engineering support for a variety of projects which may include planning, evaluation, design, and construction related activities for wastewater, water, and stormwater conveyance systems, pumping systems and related facilities.
- Perform engineering work in various engineering fields (such as wastewater, water, infrastructure, etc.)
- Lead environmental studies, permitting, alternatives analyses, and other technical deliverables
- Execute activities on projects for planning and design of stormwater/water/wastewater conveyance systems, as well as engineering services during construction.
- Perform analysis, calculations, research, selection, and layout, necessary to develop required new installation and rehabilitation design documents.
- Serve as a key member of teams for the planning, evaluation, and design of existing and proposed water and wastewater pumping stations.
- Work on engineering designs preparing reports, construction plans, specifications, calculations, equipment selection, and cost estimates for various projects
- Prepare spreadsheets, documents, drawings and maps (in ArcMap/GIS or AutoCAD)
- Check performance or conformity with plans and specifications through field inspection and testing
- Lead and support the preparation of technical memoranda, reports and electronic deliverables
- Lead and support studies and alternative analysis
- Develop understanding of regulatory and permitting requirements for a variety of jurisdictions
- Assist with development of permitting plans and permit applications
- Duties may also include field activities such as site investigations
- Data collection, manipulation, analysis, and documentation
- Communicate effectively and coordinate with project teams under other disciplines (drafters, designers, and subcontractors)
- Work collaboratively with groups across the Area and Company
Desired Skills and Experience:
- B.S. degree in related engineering field (Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, etc.) required
- B.S. degree in related engineering field preferred
- Minimum of 4 years of experience preferred in municipal water and wastewater engineering and consulting with progressively increasing responsibility.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Virginia and/or District of Columbia. Or the ability to obtain within six months.
- Previous proven and successful project management experience on large municipal projects as either the lead or in an assistant project manager role with ability to obtain direct client references.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Project, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- ArcMap/GIS skills, highly preferred
- NASSCO MACP/PACP/LACP certification, preferred
- AutoCAD skills, preferred
- Experience with data management (e.g. SQL)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Valid driver’s license, good driving record and willingness to travel and conduct field work
- Position will include frequent local travel between office locations in Columbia, Maryland and Alexandria, Virginia, and to field project sites throughout the DC Metro region.

Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.
