Overview
Shive-Hattery’s Iowa City office has an opportunity for an entry-level structural engineer with 0 to 3 years of experience in the design of structural engineering projects. In this position, you will be a part of a team that investigates concrete parking ramps, designs engineering solutions for repair, and works with contractors to implement solutions. Qualifications:
- Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Structural Engineering emphasis preferred.
- Structural design experience using concrete, steel, and masonry preferred.
- Ability to manage time and workload effectively, including planning, organizing, and prioritizing work.
- Must have good attention to detail.
- Possess good oral and written communication skills.
- Experience using Revit, AutoCAD, and structural engineering design software is preferred.
- Basic Microsoft Office software proficiency is required.
Requirements
- Design projects as a structural engineer for education, industrial, healthcare, and commercial projects with the primary focus on parking structure restoration.
- Collaborate with experienced engineers and technicians as part of multi-discipline teams.
- Provide design and drawing production support for projects in the structural discipline.
- Additional responsibilities include shop drawing/submittal review, field data collection, and project documentation.
- Will work under the direct supervision and mentoring of several licensed structural engineers.
- Must have the ability to travel with limited overnights.
- Must be able to drive, climb ladders, work from elevated platforms and open grating, and wear personal protective equipment required for project sites.
