  About the PositionWe are seeking an Entry to Mid-Level Scientist/Engineer to join our growing Environmental team in Atlanta, Georgia or Charlotte, North Carolina. The ideal candidate possesses 2-5 years of experience serving as an environmental consultant, regulatory specialist, ecologist, and/or ecological or water resources engineer preferably with experience in renewable energy, oil & gas, transportation, stream/wetland ecological restoration, mitigation or federal environmental projects. The successful candidate would assist with environmental field studies (e.g. wetland delineations and geomorphic/functional assessments, threatened and endangered species surveys, NPDES inspections, Phase I/II ESAs, etc.) and document production (e.g. technical reports, NEPA documents, permit applications, ecological restoration plans, erosion and sediment control plans, stormwater pollution prevention plans, etc.). The successful candidate would be mentored by our dynamic team of environmental and water resource professionals while supporting a range of multidisciplinary projects. With guidance, the successful candidate would  interface with clients and support proposal development.Knowledge and Experience:

• Jurisdictional wetland/ water delineations
• Geomorphic assessments
• Protected species habitat assessments and surveys
• Federal/ state/ local permitting & mitigation support
• Stormwater pollution prevention plan and erosion and sediment control plan preparation
• Stream/wetland ecological restoration design or training experience
• Manage schedules and environmental special studies
• Coordination with interdisciplinary teams of designers and environmental SMEs for various infrastructure projects
• Ideal candidates would show specific experience with both ecological design and permitting

Qualifications:

• 2-5 years of experience
• B.S. in relevant environmental or water resources related discipline
• Demonstrated experience leading ecology field tasks (e.g., water/wetland delineations, protected species surveys, erosion compliance inspections, etc.) and preparing associated technical documentation. This position can be filled as an Ecologist/Scientist/Engineer I/II/III to be determined by the years of relevant experience of the selected candidate. Individuals with a higher level of experience may apply and will be considered for a position commensurate with experience.
• Must have a working knowledge of wetland science, flora/fauna and ecosystems of the Southeastern US, and relevant regulatory requirements
• Proficient with GIS and mapping
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Physically able to travel and conduct field work on various project sites with challenging field conditions such as steep terrain, thick vegetation, and inclement weather
• Excellent technical writing and communication skills with ability to deliver complete and clean documents
• Willingness to travel as projects require to include occasional overnight/extended travel
• Relevant certifications such as Professional Wetland Scientist, Professional Wildlife Biologist, or Certified Ecologist would be viewed favorably
• Ability to work well within a team environment, positive attitude, multi-task, and self-motivated to produce high quality work.
• Ability and desire to learn and grow professionally

 Many factors are considered when determining compensation at Pond, including scope and level of position, geographic location, candidate skill, knowledge and experience. Starting base pay may vary depending on these factors. We anticipate filling this position as a Scientist II with a salary range of $57,900.00 - $98,400.00 .
