Buro Happold is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join our talented and inclusive hybrid structural engineering team in Los Angeles.As a Senior Structural Engineer you will have the opportunity to apply your technical knowledge of structural design across a portfolio of ground-breaking projects in the US and globally. Your broad design knowledge will serve you well in this role as you make your mark on our exciting range of projects. This role will typically analyze and design structural systems for steel and concrete buildings using the appropriate building codes and be in close collaboration with other disciplines within a multi-discipline environment.As a key part of the team, your responsibilities will be varied but will broadly include:What would you be doing?
- Preparation and verification of detailed engineering designs, drawings, documents and specifications
- Undertake detailed engineering design for gravity and lateral systems of building structures
- Take the lead in managing project development and deliverables with the team
- Reviewing project work and deliverables to meet expected high levels of quality against project schedules
- Guide and help develop less experienced team members in order to achieve project success and team goals
- Create 3D structural analysis models using commercial software, including RAM, SAP, ETABS, SAFE, etc
- Set up, manage and review job/project administrative systems, including planning and monitoring job resourcing/expenditure
- Under guidance of project leadership, attend and participate in meetings with the client, and other design team members
What are we looking for?
- 5+ years’ experience of innovative structural building engineering design
- Relevant master's degree
- Professional Engineer (P.E.)
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of US Building Codes and Professional Standards with expertise in seismic design
- Broad structural design knowledge from working on a wide range of projects
- Experience with wide range of material, including the design of steel, concrete and wood building structures
- Confident and proactive character with ability to accept a high degree of responsibility in a team-based organization, combined with ability to work independently
- Good working experience with BIM tools such as REVIT
- Passion for sustainability and reducing the environmental impact on projects
- Experience with or willing to learn computation design methods, using Rhino, Grasshopper is a plus

What we offer:
- Salary range of $87,000 to $110,000. This will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience
