Being part of the MM team provides the opportunity to work with dedicated professionals in both Chicago and North America on the exciting bridge and structural design projects reflective of work ranging from simple span bridges to complex bridge design.
As a structural engineer, you will predominantly be involved with bridge projects, but will also have exposure to different structural projects. You’ll work across projects for railways, highways, related transportation projects and, of course, bridges. You’ll have exposure to all sorts of duties; actively participating in:
- Bridge design, plan, and development
- Field investigations, inspections, and development
- Type studies, preliminary designs and all the way through to detailed design
- Load rating, construction monitory and expert opinions in the areas of quantities and cost estimating
Not only will you be involved in a wide range of responsibilities as a structural engineer, you’ll also be supported by MM's bridges and civil structures practice leads to developing your project management skills. Over time you will begin to start managing your own transportation and infrastructure projects and take a forward-facing role with the client.
Candidate Specification
The candidates interested in this position should have, if not all, most of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering preferred
- Certification as a registered professional engineer (PE)
- Certification as a registered Illinois Structural Engineer (SE)
- Experience working on IDOT structural bridge design projects
- Railroad Bridge experience is a plus
- Familiarity with Microstation, LARSA, SAP 2000, and STAAD is a plus.
