Primary responsibilities will include working directly with clients and providing solid technical solutions and high-quality work products for our mining clients. Specifically, we are seeking a candidate with experience serving clients directly and executing and managing environmental projects for private clients. In this role you will work closely with strong technical experts throughout the nation and utilize resources throughout the company.Job Responsibilities:
  • Project Delivery. Serve as a senior civil engineer for mining sector projects of varying size and scale. Leverage BC multi-disciplinary resources to deliver service and products across multiple projects.
  • Work with subcontractors to deliver projects on schedule and on budget.
  • Ensure that BC’s project delivery system is applied to provide high-quality services and deliver exceptional work products.
  • Health and Safety. Help drive health and safety practices throughout all aspects of work for the candidate and others.
Additional Job Responsibilities:
  • Perform civil engineering work on a variety of projects in the mining sector related to:
    • Stormwater management
    • Surface water hydrology and hydraulic design
    • Site layout, earthwork grading, and mass balance calculations
    • Infiltration modeling
    • Cap and cover design
    • Geotechnical analysis
    • Site investigation and remediation
    • Soil and water sampling
  • Review the work of others for quality and resolving design issues
  • Lead client contact and attend client meetings
  • Lead preparation of engineering designs, reports, construction drawings, specifications, and calculations for a variety of project elements
  • Communicate effectively and coordinate with project teams including other disciplines (i.e., engineers, designers, geologists, scientists)
  • Mentor less experienced junior-and entry-level engineers
  • Ensure quality, client service, clarity of work product and projects
  • Promote companywide initiatives and values
  • Undertake technical and feasibility studies
  • Lead the creation of studies, permitting application documents, and alternative analyses
  • Oversee staff performing field work, including on occasion, visiting job sites for construction observation duties
  • Perform submittal reviews, requests for information, correspondence, change requests, and change orders for construction projects
  • Assist in preparing project scopes and budgets
  • Provide technical leadership on civil design aspects of mining projects
  • Coordinate civil project work with surveyors, geotechnical, architectural, process, mechanical, and electrical engineers, contractors, and consultants
  • Periodic travel with field work is anticipated - up to 10% local and national
Desired Skills and Experience:
  • B.S. in Engineering and licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of California. Additional licensure in Nevada, Arizona and other western states is desirable
  • 6 or more years of experience with progressive responsibilities, including project management
  • Experience successfully delivering on mining sector projects
  • Knowledge and understanding of hydrology and hydraulics associated with the design of both open channels, closed conduits, stormwater management facilities, ponds, reservoirs, and erosion control practices
  • Desire and drive to inspire a team of professionals and growing the team through engaged leadership
  • Technical understanding of all facets of mining sector projects
  • Knowledge and experience with Federal, State, and local regulations applicable to mining sector projects
  • Experience with industry groups is preferred
  • Possess, or be able to acquire quickly, MSHA certification required for the performance of mining sector work and OSHA certification for working on hazardous sites
  • A positive, can-do attitude, and be flexible and self-motivated with an attention to detail
  • Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Strong verbal and written (technical writing) communication skills
  • Highly responsive, capable of working in a diverse team environment and handling multiple tasks with competing priorities
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D experience a plus
  • Hydrologic modeling experience a plus
  • Excellent technical writing capabilities
  • Ability to work in a virtual environment across multiple company teams
Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Location A: $83,000.00 - $113,000.00
Location B: $91,000.00 $124,000.00
