PCL Constructors Westcoast Inc. is looking for an experienced Carpenter Foremen to join our Major Projects division in Vancouver, BC.
Wage:
- Starting wage of $41.35/hr full time, plus Vacation and Statutory Holiday pay, valid OFA 2/3 ticket wage premium, Shift Premiums(if applicable).
As a Carpenter Foreman, you will contribute to our team by:
- Implementing PCL's safety programs.
- Being responsible for supervising crews in a safe and efficient manner.
- Working with the teams to ensure safe work procedures are understood and followed.
- Demonstrated Journeyperson Carpenter skill level.
- Sets clear expectations for safety, quality and productivity of all tasks.
- Monitors crew progress toward set expectations.
- Monitors on-site equipment inventory on a monthly, or as needed, basis vs project records.
- Proactively ensures security of all PCL tools and equipment.
- Writes JHA and PSI documents and updates, as necessary.
- Intricate component of the Zero Goal jobsite safety culture.
- Attends and contributes weekly at Tailgate Meetings.
- Understands and contributes to PCL Quality Control Program.
- Utilizes daily task planning tools.
- Finalizes timecards with correct cost codes and hours on a daily basis using PCL’s Mobile Time Entry (MTE) application.
- Working with the project team to lead part of a project and/or an area of a project.
- Understanding the schedule and setting expectations with the crews.
- Supervising and coordinating site construction activities with sub-trades and PCL’s own skilled craft workers.
- Being able to intervene and understand the methods used to ensure a safe, productive and quality project.
- Working with the PCL team and the engineers, designers and inspectors to help meet the clients project requirements.
What you will bring to the role:
- 2 or more years of construction experience in field supervision/foreman in Institutional, Commercial, Industrial or Civil construction.
- High regard for safety and pride for quality of work.
- Understanding and the ability to follow safe work procedures and lead accordingly.
- Hospital experience is considered a asset.
- Positive attitude and desire to continuously improve skills while teaching others.
- Familiar with field concepts, practices and procedures.
- Able to multi-task, show initiative and ask questions.
- Self-motivated and a team player.
- Able to follow directions to ensure completion of daily tasks.
- Have a high degree of flexibility in a changing environment.
- Should have reliable transportation.
- Demonstrated leadership skills for a crew of minimum 3-4 individuals.
- Must be able to clearly communicate before a group with confidence.
- Must be able to write reports using good grammar, spelling and punctuation.
- Proficient in construction drawing reading.
- Competent using iPad for daily reports and reading drawings.
- Hold a valid Journeyperson trade certificate or equivalent experience in the industry.

Work Conditions:
This position is based on a standard 40-hour work week. Suitable candidates must be available to work overtime, evenings and weekends as the project might require.
