JOB DESCRIPTION

DESCRIPTIONThe Michael Baker Baltimore office has seen significant growth over the course of the last few years. Additionally, Michael Baker continues to expand its growing national bridge practice. To enable continued growth both locally and nationally, Michael Baker’s Baltimore office seeks a Bridge Engineer who will be focused on executing technical work and technical excellence within the Bridge Department. We are looking for a team member who will participate with senior project managers and junior team members to provide high quality engineering services.As part of our Structural Engineering Team, the Bridge Engineer will work on bridge projects and develop innovative, practical solutions to various bridge design, load rating, and inspection work. In this role you will perform design and analysis as well as other structural engineering tasks for bridge systems and components. 

  • Perform structural analysis of bridge systems and components using Midas, AASHTOWare Bridge Rating, STAAD, Conspan, and other similar software tools
  • Assist and check design calculations performed by others
  • Work alongside our Structural Designers to develop structural details and construction plans using Microstation or AutoCAD
  • Prepare geometric layouts, construction specifications, and material quantity calculations for bridge repair and replacement projects
  • Perform bridge and other structure condition inspections and prepare inspection reports
  • Establish and maintain corporate relationships with all employees, clients, and other stakeholders.

 PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • You’ll need a Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with structural emphasis, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 6+ years of experience.
  • Hold a Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Naturally, you’ll need computer skills (Microsoft Office), along with industry standard bridge design and analysis software. Some Microstation and AutoCAD experience.
  • Familiar with structural design software and AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications

The salary range for this position is $72,640 - $151,334. This will be dependent on the experience and location of the incoming candidate.
