We’re looking for a Mid-Level / Project Geotechnical or Geological Engineer to join our geohazard management practice in Milwaukee, WI. This position is well-suited for a talented, highly experienced individual who is interested in being a leader and contributing to innovative and challenging projects involving pipeline systems, dams, dikes, and levees, mines, and other infrastructure.Our clients ask us to address their new ventures and most challenging problems involving the environment, natural resources, and civil infrastructure. Learn more by visiting www.geosyntec.com ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leadership of teams carrying out geotechnical site characterization;
  • Geotechnical design for geohazard mitigation along pipeline systems, including landslides and stream crossings;
  • Development and management of instrumentation monitoring systems;
  • Managing multiple projects within the scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensuring quality standards on project deliverables;
  • Managing the overall delivery of projects including, project planning and controls, financial management, change management, risk management, and contract/subcontract management;
  • Effectively stewarding and building client relationships to repeat business;
  • Assisting with developing business opportunities with new and existing clients and preparing associated proposals; and
  • Assisting with preparation of engineering reports, design calculations, drawings, and technical specifications.

  • Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.  
  • Fieldwork: Up to 35%
  • Overnight travel: Up to 30%

  • Bachelor's degree in civil, geotechnical, or geological engineering or a related field. (required) 
  • Advanced degree in earth science, engineering, or a related field. (preferred)
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.E.). (preferred)

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 5 years (7+ preferred) of directly relevant experience in a consulting environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required) 
  • 2 to 3 years of experience in mitigation of landslide geohazards in the energy sector. (preferred)
  • Experience in developing and executing geotechnical investigation programs. (required)
  • Experience managing the overall delivery of projects including, project planning and controls, financial management, change management, risk management, and contract/subcontract management. (required) 
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required) 
  • Ability and willingness to perform fieldwork and travel. (required)
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
