Effectively investigating, assessing, evaluating, and monitoring the suitability, risks and properties of site ground conditions is a crucial part of successful project delivery. GHD's Northeast Region is looking for a Geotechnical Engineer to join the team in providing technical resources on projects which include hydro, water, linear infrastructure, transportation, and civil municipal for private/commercial, State, and Federal clients across the region and the US.You will work collaboratively with our North American and Global Geotechnical Groups while growing the team throughout the US Northeast Region.Location for this role is flexible and can be based in any of our Northeast regional offices.In an ever-changing world, it requires creativity and innovation to stay ahead.We’re seeking the curious, those who are stimulated by fresh thinking and a desire to shape our communities in new, positive ways.As part of a truly global team, working on complex and rewarding projects, you'll be at the forefront of driving change.See what the power of commitment can do for you. Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
- Provide construction oversight for engineered fill, concrete, and pavement
- Perform borehole sample collection and logging
- Lead all aspects of geotechnical project coordination and client coordination
- Conduct geotechnical engineering evaluations and calculations including, but not limited to, design for retaining walls, shallow and deep foundations, slope stability, pavements and slabs-on-grade
- Perform seismic related geotechnical engineering analyses
- Prepare routine correspondence, data and evaluation reports, standardized documents and work plans for internal and client review
- Oversight of contractors in the field
What you will bring to the team:
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering or relevant field of study
- 2-5 years of geotechnical engineering experience
- Geotechnical lab experience (Atterberg Limits, proctors, grain size analysis, hydrometer, moisture content) highly desired
- QA/QC construction oversight experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work both within a team and independently
- Willing to travel up to 25% of the time both locally and regionally with some overnight travel
