Kleinfelder's Geotechnical Services support the planning, engineering, and construction of complex projects, and our specialists are leading experts in their fields. Step into Your New Role Kleinfelder is seeking an Entry-Level Geotechnical Field Professional/Certified PennDOT Drilling Inspector with 0 to 5 years' experience to join us in our Mechanicsburg, PA office. Travel to project sites and other Kleinfelder offices is required. Fieldwork will be the primary responsibility and make up about 85% of the applicant's time, the majority of which will require daily travel (within 1-2 hours of the office). Overnight travel for fieldwork is sometimes required and may make up about 15% to 25% of that time. The Mid-Atlantic Team offers a wide range of challenging project work and a great opportunity to develop professionally. Skills required for this position include:

- A BS in Engineering (Geological//Geotechnical/Civil), Geology, Earth Sciences, or a similar field is required. EIT/GIT or ability to obtain within a year is highly preferred.
The candidate's responsibilities will include:
- perform test boring oversight and prepare field logs
- perform test pits oversight, as well as infiltration testing and prepare field logs
- classification of soil and rock types
- perform laboratory analysis of soils
- prepare report appendices using programs such as GIS, CAD, Excel, Word, etc.
- help prepare geotechnical reports in conjunction with the project's Project Manager
- maintaining objectives, initiatives, and overall goals set forth by the project manager
- demonstrate experience with, or the ability to readily learn earthwork and foundation construction observation
The candidate may have experience in other aspects of civil engineering including:
- geotechnical laboratory testing,
- site grading,
- erosion and sedimentation control, and
- stormwater management and infiltration testing.
Experience and responsibilities is preferred but not required. A BS in Geological//Geotechnical/Civil Engineering, Geology, Earth Sciences, or a similar field is required. EIT/GIT or ability to obtain within a year is highly preferred. Additionally, a PennDOT Certified Drilling Inspector certificate is highly preferred, or the ability to obtain within 6 months is a required.
