What we are looking forWe are looking for an independent, Entry-Level Engineer to assist with the workload of diverse, challenging solid waste projects. Initially, you will provide engineering support to the team within our existing solid waste practice focused on landfill and landfill gas system permitting and design, solid waste facility permitting and design, construction, operation, monitoring, and air quality permitting and compliance support for private and municipal clients. This includes opportunities for solid waste facility and environmental control system infrastructure permitting and design, engineering analysis, feasibility studies, report writing, construction oversight, field sampling and testing, and permitting. You may also support potential select strategic practice areas, such as wastewater treatment, organics management, alternative energy (solar and biogas), greenhouse gas (GHG) and sustainability, climate change and adaptation, PFAS and emerging contaminants, and carbon sequestration. You can be hybrid out of the Overland Park, Kansas office.How you can make an impact
- Landfill and landfill gas system permitting and design, including construction plans, specifications and construction documents.
- Landfill-related operational support assignments, such as airspace volume calculations, etc.
- Air permitting and compliance, greenhouse gas emission inventories, regulatory compliance support, permitting for solid waste and industrial facility projects.
- Renewable energy project evaluations, analyses and implementation.
- Prepare solid waste facility and environmental control system infrastructure permit applications and/or regulatory agency submittals and develop responses with supporting documentation.
- Work may involve field activities such as collection of samples, attending meetings, site inspections, oversight of construction activities, source testing, etc.
- Conduct and document construction quality assurance observations to confirm compliance with construction documents.
- Technical work may include completing calculations, computer modeling, reviewing compliance issues, preparing permitting documentation, reviewing and analyzing data, and report preparation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree (or higher) in Environmental, Civil or related engineering degree by June 2023 required.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) designation (or ability to obtain) preferred.
- 3 months of work experience or studies in solid waste, landfill gas, air quality and/or relevant civil or environmental engineering.
- Demonstrated knowledge of solid waste and/or air regulations preferred.
- Ability to read and understand engineering design plans.
- Valid driver’s license with a driving record in good standing required

Pay range for this position is around $60k depending on experience and location.
