  Geotechnical Drilling Assistant
: Minnesota: Saint Paul, MN

Our extensive in-house resources and solid reputation attract quality-focused regional, national, and international clients from a wide range of industries.  American Engineering TestingGeotech Drilling AssistantSt. Paul, MN WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR: Our drilling crews collect soil and rock samples that provide site information used by our geotechnical engineers when designing new roads, bridges, and buildings. We have an opening for a Drilling Assistant to assist with drilling operations in the surrounding area. In this role, you’ll operate vehicles and drilling equipment to obtain samples, record test locations/soil type, install monitoring wells, and seal boreholes while prioritizing safety and client relationships. Candidates should enjoy working outdoors in varied weather conditions and have a comfort level with equipment maintenance.  Training for the position is provided, though a background in soil science, geology, or earth science is helpful.    IN THIS JOB, YOU WILL: 

  • Set up equipment and assist in the operation of the drill rig in a safe manner. 
  • Work with the crew chief to operate drilling equipment, install monitoring wells, collect samples, prepare field logs, and restore the site to nearly its previous condition. 
  • Maintain equipment and troubleshoot as needed. 
  • Communicate with clients and AET project managers for smooth and successful projects.   

 REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

  • HS diploma or GED 
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (CDL preferred but not required) 
  • Capable of the physical labor required including work at hazardous waste sites, with personal protective equipment.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
