Job Description

  Knight Piésold DRC is a rapidly expanding and we are currently looking for an Engineering Geologist to join our team.Our mission of working together to be the very best team of professionals and the most valuable. The ideal candidate will be experienced in geotechnical investigations, identification of laboratory testing methods, technical report writing and client liaison whilst conducting fieldwork.Minimum requirements:

  • Education: BSc. Honours in Engineering Geology or Geology.
  • Experience: More than 3 years’ experience in the field of geotechnical investigations or similar geotechnical projects.
  • Other: Registration as a Professional (Pr. Sci. Nat.) with SACNASP (or equivalent registration) would be advantageous.
  • Software: Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Earth, GIS software (Mapsource etc.), geotechnical logging software and Rocscience suite software.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Exemplify KP’s quality control and OHS procedures.
  • Assist with/ compile with proposals, tenders, expressions of interest and/or quotations.
  • Assist with/ compile procurement documentation and direct procurement processes.
  • Undertake projects towards company and client objectives.
  • Undertake project administration duties.
  • Undertake site investigation and sampling logistical support.
  • Coordinate all geotechnical investigation activities, including but not limited to appointment of subcontractors, health and safety activities, investigation programmes and sampling programmes.
  • Log core from drilling according to applicable guidelines and best practice.
  • Map exposed rock outcrop according to applicable guidelines and best practice.
  • Profiling of test pits according to applicable guidelines and best practice.
  • Sampling of test pits and boreholes for geotechnical laboratory testing, according to applicable guidelines and best practice.
  • Undertake, specify and supervise geotechnical testing, including laboratory and insitu tests.
  • Strive to complete works within time and budget requirements.
  • Assist with/ compile site investigation and project reports.
  • Perform desk top studies.
  • Undertake all works according to KP's ISO 9001 quality system, as well as KP’s internal quality systems.
