Basic Job Functions:

BACKGROUND: Universal Industrial Gases, LLC. (UIG) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Nucor and a well-established, global engineer, constructor, supplier and operator of air separation plants and related equipment and services, based in Bethlehem, PA.  UIG owns and operates production plants across the USA which supply both Nucor steel sites and third-party clients 24/7 with tonnage quantities of oxygen, nitrogen and argon as well as exporting liquid cryogenic products by road tanker.
BASIC FUNCTIONS: 
UIG is currently seeking Civil/Structural Engineer to be the point of contact for internal and external project personnel with regard to all Civil and Structural engineering aspect of the project execution. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:•    Responsible for the Civil and Structural scope of work on a project, covering all engineering phases from proposals, basic, detail, commissioning and construction
•    Preparation of technical specifications, scope of work, bills of material, and drawings which present the design for fabrication and construction 
•    Developments of analysis calculations and sketches for civil and structural engineering activities such as: site development, storm water design, piling and foundation design, loads calculations (wind, seismic, dead, etc.), structural steel design, connections design, lifting lugs, pipe-racks and skids, platforms, and module design 
•    Responsible for the daily coordination, oversight and monitoring of UIG and 3rd party designers and engineers’ work during all phases of the project to ensure work is performed on time and within budget 
•    Review, check and ensure calculations and drawings of other engineers are accurate and in compliance with client specifications, codes, and industry standards 
•    Review vendor drawings 
•    Participate in 30%, 60%, 90% design reviews and constructability design reviews
•    Coordinate effectively with all disciplines in issues related to Civil/Structural engineering 
•    Participate in internal and external project meetings to report progress 
•    Support the effort of developing project conceptual layouts, schedule, budget, and execution strategy
•    Estimates construction and fabrication quantities and weight 
•    Conduct field assessments and gather data required to produce as-built documentation
•    Support proposal activities and provide cost estimates
•    develop department procedures, best practices, processes, tools, and design standards Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

1-    Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
2-    Ten to Twenty years of experience in the Civil/Structural engineering of Air Separation, Chemical, Industrial,  Refinery/Petrochemical, Oil & Gas or Power plants 
3-    Engineer-in-training certificate 
4-    Working knowledge of performing structural and civil design and analysis calculations using both manual and computer aided techniques in accordance with the national and international codes, governing regulations and industry standards, including IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, and OSHA
5-    Ability to review, validate and check other engineers work for compliance to codes, project specifications and industry norms
6-    Effective computer skills in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD 2D & 3D, STAAD Pro or equivalent software
7-    Effective communication skills both written and verbal as well as effective problem-solving skills
8-    Ability to travel up to 25% of the time (domestic and international) 

Preferred Qualifications:

1.    Detailed engineering experience of Air Separation and Industrial Gas Plants
