Your growth opportunity
The Engineer in Training II is responsible to ensure fundamental engineering basics and KLJ engineering and design standards are applied independently. Position will work with project managers and engineers to ensure project deliverables continue to provide exceptional service to our clients. Position will be responsible to produce design, quality calculations, drawings development, engineering reports, construction administration and other project deliverables.
- Apply engineering principles and standards to individual project tasks
- Utilize design software to apply fundamental engineering standards of design
- Able to read and understand construction drawings and specifications
- Able to draft construction and bidding documents in accordance with organization and client processes
- Construction observation/inspection
- Ensure compliance with KLJ quality standards
- Utilize effective written and oral communication
What you're responsible for
- Assist with elements of project design including calculation of quantities for cost estimating and bidding purposes
- Competent in software(s) associated with typical project requirements
- Assist with planning, organizing, and managing project elements
- May lead design tasks under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer
- Perform, and may lead, construction administration duties such as documenting activities, providing general oversight, and interacting with contractors, sub-contractors and others
- Assist with preparation for and participation in public/client meetings
- May serve as task lead on small scale projects with support from senior staff
- Perform QA/QC reviews following established procedures
What you'll need
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited post-secondary institution
- Engineer-In-Training Certification
- Must possess MS Office skills including Word and Excel
- Design experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation or other design software
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate motorized vehicles
Preferences:
- Design experience with RISA 3D or similar FEM software
- Desire to pursue Professional Engineer licensure
- Prior Engineering Consultant experience
- This position completes specific, routine operations that include a few separate tasks and procedures.
