Basic Job Functions:

The primary function of the Design Engineer is to design open web steel joists and steel deck and ensure that all products meet the design requirements for projects varying from small gas stations to large athletic stadiums and multimillion square foot warehouses located across the country. The Design Engineer responsibilities also include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Design work in accordance with industry standards and Vulcraft manufacturing processes
  • Review contract documents such as structural drawings, architectural drawings, and project specifications
  • Provide direction and technical support to detailers, shop orders, and production teammates during project design and development
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers, including other design professionals
  • Promote Vulcraft products with specifiers or at conventions

 This position is a salaried position plus ROA bonus. Occasional travel is required. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US (Nucor will not sponsor the need for a visa now or in the future)            Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

B.S. Degree in Civil EngineeringFundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification

Preferred Qualifications:
