As a Field Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering education, services and support to customers in innovative ways across our product lines. You will establish and maintain relationships with design professionals, specifiers and major contractors to provide technical support and obtain the specification of Simpson Strong-Tie product lines, with emphasis on Anchoring Systems, Connectors for Cold-Formed Steel Construction, Repair-Protection-Strengthening Systems lines and Structural Steel product lines. You will be a top-level contributor/specialist who will provide consultation on complex projects while performing a variety of tasks. You will work closely with sales team to identify and support closing of sales opportunities. This position is located in a major metro city in the state of Florida and service the states of FL, LA, MS and Southern AL.WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (% of Time)Provide technical support for our concrete anchoring, strengthening, and repair products to our customers and our staff. You will use your experience, product knowledge and training to develop solutions for a wide variety of applications.  Establish and maintain relationships with design professionals, specifiers, and major contractors to obtain the specification of Simpson products. (60%)Conduct technical presentations for individuals, groups and professional associations involved in new construction and/or the repair and rehabilitation of existing structures, focusing on both general technical knowledge as well as the advantages and use of Simpson products. (30%)Work closely with our engineering and sales teams to identify opportunities and supply product solutions (10%)DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEIf you can do everything listed above, you’ve got what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too:

  • Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in civil or structural engineering required.
  • Engineering-In-Training (EIT) required.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer, Civil or Structural (PE or SE) preferred.
  • 4 years structural engineering experience designing commercial structures; reinforced concrete, masonry, cold-formed steel, and structural steel.
  • Construction: Practical working knowledge of common concrete and steel construction methods.
  • Product knowledge: General knowledge of concrete anchors and light gage steel. Design experience with fasteners, connectors, and lateral systems a plus.
  • 2 years computer experience (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, ACAD, various design software).
  • Knowledge: Practical working knowledge of common concrete and steel construction methods. Familiarity with Simpson products is a plus.
  • Customer focus: Quickly and effectively solve customer problems and maintain productive internal and external customer relationships. Readily readjust priorities to respond to pressing and changing customer needs. Recognize potentially adverse customer reactions and develop better alternatives.
  • Self-management: Set priorities, goals and timelines to achieve maximum productivity. Manage multiple projects and competing priorities. Display a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills; written and verbal, proof reading, professional phone demeanor. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Enthusiastic attitude and ability to work well with others.
  • Teamwork: Maintain a collaborative approach in dealing with other Simpson Strong-Tie employees.
  • Demonstrate a genuine commitment to reach mutually beneficial solutions.
  • Driving record: Possess and maintain a driving record which complies with company policy.
