Co-op assignments begin in mid-May and require a commitment to work full-time through late November/early December. Summer internships are only available to those who have previously completed a Co-op with SME.We're looking for 30 - 40 Co-ops for the 2023 construction season! Your Co-op experience begins with an orientation/training period of several weeks followed by on-the-job training with full-time SME Team Members. You will get exposure to a wide variety of construction techniques and projects. You will also have the opportunity to work and interact directly with construction managers, contractors, and design professionals at construction sites. You'll have real responsibility!Description of Position ResponsibilitiesYour work will involve supporting field construction quality control activities. You will gain valuable experience in soils, concrete, asphalt, and construction materials evaluations, and will work closely with contractors to ensure adherence to specifications. You may also assist our engineering staff in performing field evaluations and quality control testing in the field. You will gain direct exposure to consulting engineering practices and have an opportunity to meet technical specialists in the areas of geotechnical engineering, environmental remediation, pavement design, and materials evaluation.Technical Skills Required
- To be considered, you must have a good driving record and must be able to comfortably lift and carry equipment and samples weighing up to approximately 50 - 60 pounds.
- A valid drivers license, experience driving in the U.S. and a good driving record.
