Our team of experienced, responsive problem solvers provide practical and sustainable solutions for our clients as we work to build and revitalize our world.We are looking for a Senior Project Engineer to work as an integral part of our busy Geotechnical team in our Indianapolis, Indiana office.
 Description of Position ResponsibilitiesPerform various geotechnical engineering analyses and services, including preparation of proposals, memos, letters, reports, plans and specifications related to geotechnical evaluations, instrumentation and data collection, design-build projects, specialty services and value engineering opportunities. Develop key client relationships that will help SME expand our geotechnical engineering, design, environmental and construction services throughout the region. We expect that by meeting with and interactively working with SME clients, and by providing and implementing creative technical solutions, you will be able to solve our clients’ difficult challenges, assist them with critical issues, and demonstrate the value of working with SME. Work closely with SME’s Transportation Services Group Team Members on DOT and local agency projects within our primary service region of Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio. We anticipate you will perform an increasingly more responsible role with our Transportation Service Group. Develop and maintain SME clients through interactions both during and occasionally outside of regular working hours and using an increased knowledge of all SME services to obtain project opportunities for other SME Service Groups from your client contacts. Implement geotechnical services and interact with fellow Team Members and external clients and others in concert with SME’s vision, core values, and performance principles. Maintain a high level of technical quality and content in the products and services delivered by you and the members of your Geotechnical Team. Serve as project manager and/or overseeing the activities of others on multiple, concurrent projects. Prepare, review, edit and proofread proposals, specifications, technical memoranda and reports to meet client expectations while satisfying the risk management and quality objectives of SME. Mentor and coach less experienced geotechnical Team Members to meet goals established for professional development, revenue generation and profitability. Actively participate in professional and community organizations to enhance SME’s visibility and project opportunities and also to enhance your personal professional visibility and build your peer and client relationships.Technical Skills Required

  • Master's Degree in Civil or Geotechnical  Engineering.
  • Professional Registration required.
  • 10 years related experience required.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have related experience consulting engineering practice and familiarity with Mathcad, Slide, CT shoring, and Allpile or LPile.
  • Ability to build a practice by bringing or establishing a network of prospects and clients to get new business.
  • A clean driving record and experience driving in the U.S.
  • Willingness to travel for project work, meetings, conferences/professional events, etc. 
  • Ability to work overtime, including weekends, on an as-needed basis.
