PROJECT SCIENTIST (ENVIRONMENTAL)Leighton is currently seeking a Sr. Project Scientist with at least 8 years of experience conducting Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments for our Irvine office.Pay Scale: $100K-134K Annually Position Duties:
- Maintain communication with clients (written/verbal)
- Plan, schedule and coordinate work of subordinate engineers and geologists
- Coordinate, supervise and perform environmental site assessments
- Prepare environmental reports and review reports prepared by subordinate staff
- Prepare and present estimates, proposals and schedules on environmental projects ranging from Site Assessments to remediation design and construction
- Budget Management
- Familiarity with DTSC requirements, including Preliminary Endangerment Assessments
- Actively participate in Marketing/Business Development Presentations

Requirements:
- BS or higher in Geology, Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science.
- Professional Geologist (PG) or Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.
- 8+ years of experience conducting Environmental Site Assessments (Phase I & II) and Remediation oversight.
- Caltrans experience on ISA’s and ADL surveys and remediation experience is very helpful
- Familiar with ASTM Standards for conducting site investigations
- Experience with proposal writing, cost estimates, staff training and client interaction
- Experience negotiating with regulatory agencies and obtaining site closure
- Experience performing risk assessments and risk-based closure
- Strong organization and written/oral communication skills including work plan and report preparation and presentations to clients and regulators
- Must be open to accelerated timeframes
- Successful candidate should be self-motivated and friendly with a can-do attitude.
- Ability to develop new business is a plus
- Strong ability to mentor and lead project staff
