This role will involve the management of geotechnical engineering projects across Western Canada, under the leadership of our Geotechnical Team Lead in Edmonton. Your Contribution
Reporting to the Geotechnical Team Lead, the successful candidate will:
- Apply and promote Englobe’s health and safety culture, in compliance with rules and regulations;
- Manage all key aspects of geotechnical engineering projects, including contract management, subcontractor management, schedule management, technical performance, and financial performance;
- Complete various technical tasks associated with geotechnical engineering projects, including the management of health and safety activities, geotechnical evaluation and problem solving, coordination of field activities, report preparation and authentication;
- Prepare professional services proposals, including defining the scope of work and estimating costs and timelines;
- Utilize computer aided design and analysis software;
- Conduct site visits and investigations to evaluate difficult conditions and assist field staff;
- Use keen and detailed analytical skills to carry out geotechnical investigative assignments; and
- Assist in managing, training, and mentoring technical personnel and more junior professional staff.
Your Profile
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering from a recognized university;
- Member of, or eligible for registration, with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.);
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering;
- Local project experience in both soil and bedrock conditions;
- Demonstrated experience and interest in project management;
- Able to provide leadership, and mentorship to junior staff;
- Excellent technical writing skills (vocabulary, grammar, syntax), and mastery of professional writing style;
- Experience in global stability assessment and retaining wall design and use of associated modelling software (e.g. Geostudio® suite, Rocscience®, etc.) will be considered an asset;
- Interest and proficiency with client management and business development will be considered an asset;
- Strong personal communication skills; and,
- Motivated to provide excellent client service and enjoy working in a team environment.
