Senior Structural EngineerWhy join us?We are hiring! Atkins is looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to work on a variety of transportation related structural engineering projects across the US from our hub office in Atlanta, Georgia. Senior Structural Engineers participate in a wide range of exciting projects by leading design for simple and complex bridges, culverts, retaining walls, overhead gantries, other structures on highway, transit, rail, airport and trail projects. - Defines scope of project, with full responsibility for interpreting, organizing and executing project assignments.
- Selects problems for investigation, developing novel approaches and solutions to technical problems.
- Conducts quality control checks, reviewing calculations, designs, evaluations and specifications developed by design staff for accuracy and completeness, performing on-site inspections and reviews, and conducting or overseeing remedial design work.
- Keeps abreast of state-of-the-art methods and developments in area of specialization.
- Recommends changes or improvements to plans and programs.
- May function as the project manager for routine to semi-complex projects. Responsibilities may include supporting the following: marketing, negotiating contracts, budgeting, financial management, schedule coordination and resources allocation.
- Performs such other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.
What will you contribute?
- BS or MS in Civil and/or Structural Engineering. 10+ years of technical design, writing, computer, and communication skills are required.
- 6-10+ years of relevant experience
- B.S. in Engineering with a concentration in Structures is required
- M.S. in Engineering with a concentration in Structures is preferred.
- PE License is required.
- SE License is preferred.
- High proficiency of Structural Design of Highway Bridges and other highway-related structures is required.
- Experience with GDOT is preferred.
- Experience with other types of bridges (railroad, pedestrian, etc.) is a plus.
- Intermediate proficiency of CAD is required.
- Experience with MicroStation is preferred.
- Experience with managing people, project scope, budget and schedule is a plus.
